How to find old icc profiles for the Epson 3880 that are installed by the driver but not found by Photoshop

 From Gemini:

Check the "Hidden" Driver Location

On macOS, if you have already installed the Epson 3880 driver, the Velvet Fine Art profile is likely already on your hard drive, but it is "hidden" inside the driver’s library folder where Photoshop and Lightroom sometimes fail to see it.

  1. Open Finder and select Go > Go to Folder... from the menu bar.

  2. Paste this path: /Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/ICCProfiles/

  3. Look for a file named something like Pro3880.profiles.

  4. Right-click that file and select Show Package Contents.

  5. Navigate to Contents/Resources/.

  6. Inside, you will find the actual .icc files, including the Velvet Fine Art profile.

  7. Copy that file and paste it into /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/. Once moved here, it will appear in all your printing applications.

How to enable Fine Art Papers in Mac print dialog

When trying to print on my old Epson 3880 I couldn't select Velvet Fine Art paper. Turns out I needed to change the paper size to one that wasn't tied to a particular input tray so I could select the read feed. Then when I did that the right profile was selectable.

I finally figured out how to get Slack keyboard shortcuts to work...

Thanks Gemini!

This is one of the most confusing aspects of Slack because it violates the "standard" Mac behavior.

The short answer: "M" is a single-key shortcut, meaning it only works when your cursor is NOT in the text box.

If you are typing a message and press M, you just type the letter "m". For the shortcut to work, you must perform a "focus shift" first.

The "Two-Step Dance" to use the "M" Shortcut

To use the M key to set a reminder, you must first tell Slack, "I am not typing right now; I am looking at a message."

  1. Step 1: Focus the Message List

    • Press F6 (or Fn + F6 depending on your Mac settings).

    • What happens: The blue (or grey) focus ring jumps from the text box to the message list above it.

    • Alternative: You can press the Up Arrow key until a message is highlighted in grey.

  2. Step 2: Select the Message

    • Use the Up/Down Arrow keys to highlight the specific message you want to be reminded about.

  3. Step 3: Press "M"

    • Now, press M on your keyboard.

    • What happens: The "Remind me about this" context menu will instantly pop up.

  4. Step 4: Select Duration

    • Use your arrow keys to select a preset (e.g., "In 1 hour") or arrow down to "Custom..." and press Enter to type your specific duration (e.g., "Tuesday 9am").

seatmaps.com instead of seatguru.com

Now that seatguru has been shutdown after the Tripadvisor acquisition, seatmaps.com seems to be a reasonable replacement.

Good tip on recurring bullets for team members to post prior to group meeting

I've been surprised by how these bullets have generated good conversation more quickly than if we did a roundtable.

  • Something going well in personal life
  • Something going well at work
  • Challenge or concern at work
  • Key Cross-functional updates others should be aware of
  • Suggested topics for group discussion or decision
  • Upcoming meetings, events and/or onsites to callout?
  • Upcoming PTO - for awareness
